Very amazing the house is combined with glass, wood and light situated in Victoria, BC, Canada, designed by Keith Baker Design. Located in California, the contemporary home was designed by Peggy Dupuis, the interior designer. This house consists of two floors, and when you stand in terrace where on a clear day you can actually view the coastline of Mexico. Not only stunning views you can enjoy the opulent pool, with go down through the spiral staircase. Almost room has large glass windows, white walls, glass doors, a void space in the center of the house, well-planned natural and articial lighting and the use of reflective materials throughout. It’s interior, with its spectacular curves, contrast with the very geometric external view. The decoration and its furnitures are refined, using a blackened white, grey, graphite, black, stainless steel along with the use of solid oak wood furnitures, entry door and parquet floor. One of the center pieces of this house is the 7 meter curved wall with decorative sand base red paint, done by Peggy herself, which added warmth to this house. Project description​

The assignment is a single unit house in a residential park in northern Santiago.​

The sites, around 5000 m2 each and mostly surrounded by golf fields and green areas, have the constant presence of the Andes, high temperatures during summer time and winds from the south. The project seeks to incorporate the landscape in the household daily life, following the client’s request who wanted to spend a long time throughout the year in the exterior spaces.

The site has a park towards the north, a street on the west side and another one on the south side, where the main access is located. The house is placed towards the corner of the two streets with the intention of freeing the garden, creating continuity with the park and clearing the views towards the east mountain range.​

All the interior spaces are organized around an 8 x 8 m central patio that gathers part of the terrain and incorporates it inside the house. Delimited by the ceiling slab, this patio opens its north face to project the view towards the garden. A water mirror runs across a third of its surface reinforcing this perspective through a porch. The public areas constantly participate of the patio, from the main access to the family room, articulating the service areas towards the west. On the east side, a double-height wall lightly closes the private area without losing its participation of the patio and accompanies the ascension to the master bedroom. From there, it is possible to go out into a vast porch that dominates the landscape, where the barbecue area and the swimming pool are placed at a certain distance using the site in all of its extension.​

Some peripheral walls are prolonged to direct the views and close the house against the winds and nearby streets. In addition, the slabs extend as eaves to protect tall windows from the sun and to cover the terraces. These architectonic elements radicalize the opening of the interior spaces, deepening their presence from the outside.

Mixing vs. Matching

Crazy wallpaper, wild flooring, neon paint, and funky fabrics are normally not elements you think of in one room. While some might think these interiors are way over the top, they are proof you can't have too many colors or patterns in one space. Mom and I have always been a fan of mixing over matching, and although I probably will never have a room in my home this wild I can't help but smile when I see these amazing spaces. ​

Ok so I'm pretty sure that most of us wouldn't want to actually live in this colorful Captiva Island home designed by Diamond Baratta and featured in Florida Design magazine with photography by Brantley Photography, but you have to admit, it's soooo much fun to look at! (And I'm sure we'd all take a room here or there, no?) Such a treat for the eyes...all that fearless, vibrant color, all that turquoise! I don't even know what I love best, maybe the kitchen with the funky pendants and turquoise backsplash. Or the family room with that fabulous “paisley gone wild” carpet. Or the loggia filled with turquoise cushions and the insane view of the Gulf of Mexico. Ok so maybe I would want to live here. Our newest Thibaut book, the Biscayne Collection arrived this week and it is so flipping cheerful. I know it's winter and the holidays are right around the corner so I should probably be talking about decorating the table for Thanksgiving or a fun DIY Christmas tree skirt, but oh well.​
